Southern Phone is an Australian telecommunications provider offering mobile, broadband and home phone services to customers across the country. Originally established to support regional communities, the business has grown into a national provider with a broad and evolving product offering.
As more customers began researching and purchasing services online, Southern Phone needed a digital platform that could support the full customer journey. From comparing plans to completing onboarding, the experience needed to be intuitive for customers and robust enough to support the complexity of telecommunications services behind the scenes.
New Orange delivered a fully integrated digital sales platform that connects directly with Southern Phone’s backend systems. The platform enables customers to easily research, compare and purchase telecommunications services online while giving internal teams greater flexibility to manage content and launch new plans faster.
Telecommunications journeys are rarely simple. Customers need to be able to check service availability at their address, compare plans, transfer existing numbers, activate SIMs and complete onboarding with confidence. At the same time, these journeys must meet strict requirements for validation, security and compliance.
For Southern Phone, the challenge was to create a digital platform that could support these complex workflows while integrating with the backend systems responsible for service qualification, provisioning and customer management. The platform also needed to meet high standards for accessibility, performance and security.

New Orange designed and delivered a modern headless digital platform that supports the full online sales journey for Southern Phone’s telecommunications services.
The platform connects directly with Southern Phone’s backend systems, making it possible for customers to research, compare and purchase mobile, NBN broadband and home phone services online. It supports key parts of the journey including address validation, service availability checks, number transfer, SIM activation, checkout and digital onboarding.
Alongside the customer experience, the platform also gives Southern Phone’s internal teams more control. Content can be managed more efficiently, and new plans and promotions can be launched faster. The result is a platform that improves both the customer journey and the organisation’s ability to respond to change.
Security, reliability and compliance were central throughout the solution. The platform was designed to support sensitive customer data and critical provisioning workflows in a safe, stable and scalable way.
